Alabama

The Yellowhammer State is a Deep South state situated along the Gulf of Mexico between Mississippi and Georgia. It is sometimes called “the Heart of Dixie.” The stars of Southern cooking shine on Alabama. Ribs, sweet potato pie, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, catfish, hush puppies, sweet tea, fried pies, pralines, oysters, shrimp, and chicken and dumplings are just a sampling of the down-home cooking you’ll find in the Heart of Dixie. The pecan is the official nut of Alabama. The blackberry is the official fruit, but the peach also receives recognition as the official “tree fruit.” Honey is a big product. Alabama ranks second in the nation in farmed catfish production. But the largemouth bass is the state’s official fresh-water fish.

Sun-Dried Tomato Dip

Reviewed on Oct. 14, 2008 by RLOGAN01
should change the name to garlic basil spread. I sure couldn't taste the tomato and the basil dominated and it was too thick to be called dip. even using heavy duty crackers. I will not be wasting my time and money on this recipe again.

Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers

Reviewed on Oct. 14, 2008 by MO
No review yet, but a question: the recipe calls for real bacon bits so are we talking real bacon, cooked and crumbled or Real Bacon Bits you buy in the grocery store for salads? May seem like a dumb question but given the way we message, we don't always capitalize when we should, more informal type writing on forums, etc. So the term "real bacon bits" can mean two things here. Thanks

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed on Oct. 13, 2008 by Larry
Totally AWESOME!!! I followed the recomendnations by MomSavedbyGrace and this was wow,oh wow. I used a arm shoulder roast as it was real lean and no fat. Had to cook longer but it was well worth it. I put sliced peperoncini peppers and roasted red peppers and then 2 slices of provolone cheese and then under the broiler. My oh my was this the best ever. Better then any french dip that I have tried. My wife said I had to make her one more for dinner which is very unusual for her.
