Tulsa, Oklahoma

The second largest city in Oklahoma, Tulsa is set on historic Route 66, making it a popular spot for weary travelers to rest their heads. Practically smack dab in the middle of the country, Tulsa shares both Midwestern and Southern sensibilities, which is especially evident in the city's food scene. Scattered throughout town, diners serve up home-style favorites like chicken-fried steak, biscuits and sausage gravy, fried okra, and sweet tea. Barbeque is another popular meal. Barbequed bologna, a regional specialty, is commonly offered on menus. For a true artery-clogging treat, head to Elmer's to order a Badwich. The venerated sandwich is piled high with ribs, chopped beef, smoked bologna, and a choice of hot links or smoked sausage.

Fire Roasted Tomato and Feta Pasta with Shrimp

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by italianmomof3
I loved this quick and delicious recipe. I added some fresh parsley and lemon zest and I could not find fire roasted tomatos so used diced tomatoes with garlic, basil, and oregano added. I made recipe according to directions and def came out with 4 servings with 1 left over and added double if not triple the amt of shrimp and they were the large ones. My kids loved it. I served along side garlic cheese bread and ceasar salad. Will def make again.

Strawberry Oat Muffins

Reviewed on Aug. 19, 2008 by missygail
Amazing muffins....I made one batch following the recipe exactly (which I never do) and they were amazing. I also made a batch substituting 2/3 cup mushed very ripe bananas for the strawberries and added 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg...they were the best. I loved the flavor.

Jenny's Grilled Chicken Breasts

Easy marinade to remember, not much to it. The lemon gave this a nice twang, but really didn't penetrate the meat. Thanks.
