This was pretty darn good. I live at 6,000 feet, so I did my usual alterations (a little less baking powder and a little more liquid). I used applesauce in place of most of the oil, as I often do when baking. Turned out great--moist, but dense, and just the right amount of sweetness!

Sweet and moist. Perfect with spicy chili. I've made it twice with great results. The first time I followed the recipe as written and the second time I substituted the oil for unsweetened applesauce (as my husband's cholesterol is a little high). We really couldn't note any remarkable difference. I'll be making this again and again.

I have used this cornbread recipes for years, definitely my favourite. It's so quick and easy to make. The only changes I make are adding a bit of honey for sweetness, and I reduce the baking temperture to 375F for 25 minutes - comes out perfect! Doesn't last long at my house.

I was not at all happy with this corn bread! the texture was horrible! very gritty and not good at all. I have tried many other corn bread recipies from this site that were much better.

This is wonderful corn bread and sooo easy to make!!! I used olive oil b/c I didn't have veg oil and I used 1% milk. Very tasty and sweet. It took a little longer to cook than the recipe called for, but all turned out well.

Made this as-written and it was delicious! Very moist, great texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. You will not be disappointed! *Side note: I dont understand why people change the recipe and take away stars from their rating based on that. Make the recipe as-is and then decide. Dont give a bad rating based on changes you made or how you THINK it would have turned out.

This turned out really well for me although I cut the salt in half since a full teaspoon seemed too much to me. I also cut the amount of baking powder to 2 tsp. which was plenty. Great result with these changes so I'm rating 4 since I believe as written it would be a bit salty.

Perfect! I've been searching high and low for a recipe that matches my husband's idea of "what cornbread is supposed to be", and I finally found it.

I wish I had read reviews previously and decreased the amount of sugar. It was too sweet for my taste, but my husband loved it. Instead of oil, I used applesauce and baked them as little mini-muffins in the toaster oven. My husband was eating them by the handful.

EXCELLENT! Especially with chili! I altered after reading reviews -- used 1/2 WW and 1/2 white flour, cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup, salt to 1/2 tsp and baking powder to 2 tsp. I also baked in 8" square pan. Added green chilies on one occasion for spicy version!

Pretty darn good cornbread, however I did deviate from the recipe and used 1/2 c. sugar, 2 t. baking powder, plus a little extra canola oil.

Awesome! I added some canned corn and about 1/4 cup honey. The honey made it AMAZING! This is my new fave cornbread recipe!
