Very good. I cut back on the bacon, as I didn't want it to over power the lamb. I'm glad I did. I used lamb shoulder with the bone in (all I could find), and only used about 3# of it. That was plenty for us. I browned the meat and then threw it in with the bone into the crock pot. When the stew was about done, I removed the meat and pulled it off the bone. it fell apart into pieces as I did so. I also added some beer to the crock pot, as suggested. A good, hearty stew with a subtle, tasty lamb flavor. Not something I'd make a lot, but when you want this taste, it's a great recipe.
