Better Than Fruitcake Cookies

This recipe makes over 12 dozen small cookies... a great substitution for holiday fruitcake . You can substitute rum-soaked dried apricots and dates instead of glacee'd cherries and figs for an equally tasty cookie.

Chicken with Figs in a Port Wine Sauce

Chicken breasts are browned, then cooked with port, white wine, broth, and figs until tender. The port wine sauce is simmered and whisked with cream before serving. This easy meal is stunning in presentation and flavor, a great dinner for guests or special occasions.

Drenched Fig Boats

Figs are stuffed with a bourbon and honey goat cheese, then dipped in nuts before arranging on a platter to serve. These are one of my favorite things to make. They are fun to make, look beautiful for dinner parties especially if arranged with grapes or mint leaves, are also wonderful as bite size snack and are dangerously tasty.

This is a combination of several fresh fig appetizer recipes. The flavors of fresh figs, tangy goat cheese, salty almonds, sweet honey, and balsamic vinegar contrast to make these a delicious and very pretty appetizer. Arrange figs in a circle, tops facing in, for a flower effect and this will be a lovely addition to a bridal shower menu or any formal event.

This is an easy gourmet appetizer. I've brought this to several parties and it is always a hit! I often add some chopped green olives to the olive mixture and a little more balsamic. Goat cheese may also be used in place of the cream cheese. Serve with slices of French bread or crackers.

This is a very moist cake that doesn't last long in my house. For a different taste, toast the pecans slightly. Dates can be substituted for figs to make a date cake.
